Article VII: The KTRU-Friendly Committee

Section 1: Purpose
The KTRU-Friendly Committee (KFC) shall provide guidance and recommendations to the KTRU student management with regard to how the station’s programming and operations may more effectively serve the Rice and Houston communities. Tasks of the KFC may include, but are not limited to, raising awareness of KTRU on campus and in Houston, recommending programming and events for the benefit of the Rice and Houston communities, and soliciting programming ideas and concerns from Rice students and faculty. All final decisions with regard to station programming and operations are to be made by the KTRU student management in compliance with the Operating Policy and the KTRU Constitution.
The KFC shall meet at least once each fall and spring semester in a fashion determined by the KTRU Faculty Advisor. The KFC may meet additional times each if deemed necessary by the Faculty Advisor.

Section 2: Membership
The KFC shall be comprised of the following voting members:
• The KTRU Station Manager, who serves ex officio
• Two Rice undergraduate students, nominated to one-year terms via an SA sponsored application process and approved by the SA Senate
• One Rice faculty or staff member, nominated to a one-year term by the KTRU Faculty Advisor and approved by the Dean of Undergraduates
• One alumnus with experience as a KTRU DJ, nominated to a one-year term by the KTRU Station Manager and approved by the voting members of the KTRU Board of Directors as specified in the KTRU Constitution
The KFC shall also be comprised of the following non-voting members:
• The KTRU Faculty Advisor, who serves ex officio as Chair of the KFC
• The Rice Student Association President, who serves ex officio
• The KTRU General Manager
Members of the KFC may serve more than term on the Committee so long as they fulfill the eligibility requirements for membership and have been approved by the appropriate party for their position as specified above. A member who has already been approved need not seek reapproval for each term. A member whose term has expired may be replaced at the discretion of the appropriate nominating party for each position. A member who resigns from the KFC or who is unable to fulfill his/her membership duties as determined by the Chair shall be replaced using the procedure specified above. Any new nominee to the KFC must be approved by the appropriate party for his/her position as specified above.

Rice Arts Center Student Advisory Committee

Love art, architecture, performance, or design? Want to help design the new Rice Arts Center?

The Rice Arts Center Student Advisory Committee is a group of 5 students that will be working with faculty, campus facilities planning staff, and architect teams to recommend building features to accomodate student needs and interests.

We are looking for diverse student experiences and background ranging from art history to VADA or engineering. 5 students will be selected. This is a 1-2 year commitment for non-graduating students.
