Student Vision for the Second Century Committee

Modeled on Rice’s official Vision for the Second Century, which can be viewed, here, the Student Vision for the Second Century (SV2C) hopes to tap into the values and motivations of Rice students as they relate to the broader Rice community and offerings. Through surveys, focus groups, and creative projects that allow students to represent their vision for Rice, the SV2C committee hopes to present student goals in areas such as campus life, facilities, professional development, and many many more. This vision will be presented at the Centennial Celebration in October and a full report will be given to the Board of Trustees in December. As a result, participation in this endeavor gives students a unique opportunity to highlight both what they think makes Rice unique and what they think Rice should be striving to offer in the future.

Stay tuned! Focus groups, surveys, and vision casting opportunities coming soon!

Centennial Story Project

Since the Summer of 2011, Rice University and the Centennial Team has been creating a video history of the University as seen through the eyes of those that lived here. Alumni from the 1950s to the 2000s have been telling their story about there time at Rice while currents students have been interviewed about things like Beer Bike or Willy Week. Also look for photos of the Owl Sign being flashed around the globe! You can upload your own videos and photos about why you love Rice. Check out the Centennial Story Project to find out how Rice became the university it is today.

College Exhibits

Part of what makes Rice unique is the college system. In recognition of this during the Centennial year, each college has created an exhibit that typifies student life there. Be sure to check out every college's exhibit and learn a little about how your college culture developed. You might find out about the history of your college's illustrious career during Beer Bike or the origins of traditions. These exhibits will open for display during the Centennial Celebration.
