SA President Patrick McAnaney presiding:

 

Roll Call:

·      Presidents not in attendance: Brown Proxy

·      Senators not in attendance: Baker proxy, Jones Proxy

 

SA President Patrick McAnaney:

 

·      Master Plan meeting next week. Come!

·      We have nominated our three reps to the Commencement Speaker 2011 Committee

 

EVP Selim:

 

·      Owlspace cites for clubs

 

 Secretary Philip Tarpley  

·      T-shirts will be voted on by the student body on Nov. 16.

·      Thank you for turning designs in!  They were all great!

·      The top three have been selected.  The designers are being given two weeks to clean up their designs.

·      Go Rice!

 

 Director of Elections Roni Ren:

 

·      Nominations for Homecoming King and Queen will close on this Friday, Nov. 6, and polls will open after the nominating is over.

 

 

 Academics Committee Update:

 

·      More distribution classes!!

o      Distribution classes are determined by the deans of the various schools.

o      Future Plan: Get more student feedback.  Give students a louder voice

·      Asking faculty for recommendations

o      Through esther the student can upload their resume and school records.

o      Save time and records

·      Evaluation system for major and faculty advisors

o      Working with Brian Gibson on this

·      How does faculty like the student input?

·      Student input on business major?

o      No formal poll buuuuuuut the student body would want it

·      Meeting with Rick Schell this week.

 

 

 Bylaw Amendments Introduced:

 

·      Senior Committee Institutionalized.

·      Awards Committee Standards.

 

Club Approval Discussion:

 

·      Parliamentarian brings up the idea for Block club approval meetings

·      Format, length and process changes are talked about

·      Issues/objections?

o      Block meeting:

§       How often?

·      Twice this semester

·      Potentially every 4 weeks

o      Questions:

§       Mostly ordering objections

§       Sean wants to get the club constitutions

§       Packet distributed the week before

§       Signature sheet?

§       Erol: NO CEREAL AT NOON FOR CLUBS
