What is the SA?
The Student Association is Rice's student government. Every student is a member of the SA, and there is an elected Senate that serves to keep the students from their college connected with the SA and keep the SA running. The Senate consists of the college Senators, the college Presidents, and the Executive Committee. The SA is the voice of the student body and a forum for students to help students make improvements in student life. On our weekly Monday night Senate meetings, we welcome all students to come learn from and offer their opinion to administrators on important campus-wide issues.
The three committees of the SA are:
- Academics
- Environmental
- Student life
They work on projects throughout the year to improve the student experience here at Rice. Some past projects include:
- Reducing LPAP requirement
- The bike-share program
- Single-stream recycling
- Creating the residential college system
