  • NSR APPLICATION
    • It's what you've been waiting for-- The New Student Representative Application for 2020-2021 is out! If you want to get involved on campus and make change as a student leader, the Student Association (SA) New Student Representative (NSR) program is amazing opportunity for you! Now more than ever, student leaders are needed to help advocate for changes, research the unusual, and take on projects unique to this year. Although these are unusual times in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are so proud of those like you who express interest in leadership positions now, and we know that your drive and passion will do wonders to help our Rice community stay strong through these times
  • COMMITTEE MEMBER APPLICATION
    • Thank you for your interest in being an SA Standing Committee Member! We, the 2020-2021 SA Internal Vice President and Standing Committee Chairs, are excited to see you apply. As a committee member, you will be able to pursue any projects or research you have relating to certain areas of Rice, like Academics and Wellbeing, with the increased advantages of being able to request funds through Rice, having the support of a whole committee of passionate people, having the backing as an official SA committee member to help increase your level of communication with administrators, utilizing the SA Communication's Team marketing form, and so, so much more!
      • Deadline: This application is a rolling application open all year, but please be aware that committees can only accept so many members at a time. In addition to the above, we have a few other opportunities available:

  • Undocumented Students Services and Support Task Force Member Application.
    • A Student Association Task Force that works with Rice’s various student aid departments, facilitates discussions around DACA and undocumented student issues, and identifies solutions to identified areas of concern alongside the Rice administration. In the past we have worked projects such as the daca.rice.edu website, UndocuAlly training, and Know Your Rights training.
      Deadline: Thursday, September 10th at 5 pm CST
  • Director of Elections Application .
    • The SA Director of Elections oversees and runs the SA Election process come spring semester. In this role, you'll be the chair of the elections committee. It's your job to communicate the election process to the student body, manage the ballot, and ensure the constitutional election process is upheld. You will have assistance in learning and understanding how to run the election from the SA Secretary, SA Faculty Advisor, and the Former Director of Elections during your time as Director of Elections. This application is due September 13th at 11:59 pm.
  • Alumni Relations Liaison Application.
    • The SA Liaison facilitates dialogue and information sharing between the ARA, Office of Alumni Relations and the SA. The SA Liaison would: (1) Share updates on SA programming and relevant news from the student body; (2) Learn more about ARA/Alumni Relations programming, events, and volunteer opportunities; (3) Provide feedback and ideas on ARA/Alumni Relations initiatives and discuss areas for collaboration (e.g., Sallyportal, Life After Rice, Ring Ceremony, Homecoming, etc.); (4) Present information on ARA/Alumni Relations initiatives to the SA, help organize select focus groups, and be an advocate for ARA/Alumni Relations programming and the value of being an engaged alum. The Liaison would have the opportunity to network with Rice alumni and connect with the ARA board.

  • Ion Task Force Application.
    • We will serve as liaisons between HCEDD/Third Ward and the SA, ensuring that there is clear communication between the RMC (Rice Management Company) and HCEDD. Houston Coalition for Equitable Development without Displacement (HCEDD) is a working group of community members and organizations that serves “to develop, secure, enforce, and sustain a Community Benefits Agreement with Rice Management Company as they develop the Innovation District on the edge of Third Ward.” Deadline to apply: Sept. 11th.
  • Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Committee Application.
    • ​​​​​​​ We will focus on two main projects in the fall: 1) communicating out Rice's new Title IX Policy (828) and 2) working with the Title IX office to create a sex ed session for CTIS. Additionally, the committee will look into other initiatives, such as developing a post-CTIS bystander training for campus leaders, re-structuring CTIS based off last year's report, and ideas the committee develops throughout the year! Deadline to apply: Sept. 8th.
