Howdy everyone! I'm Josh, a sophomore from Duncan studying Computer Science. My involvement in the Student Association began this last year when I took on the role of Deputy Treasurer. This allowed me to contribute to the Blanket Tax committee, where we have supported an array of student organizations, like Rice PRIDE, RASA, and more through the Initiative Fund.

As Treasurer, I plan on continuing to support student initiatives in any way that I can. Whether that be allocating funds or working directly with various organizations to help find other solutions to their needs, I want to ensure there are no barriers to Rice students hosting unique and impactful events.

Beyond the Initiative Fund, I would like to explore raising the Blanket Tax as it has been many years since this has been done; our ability to support existing Blanket Tax organizations such as KTRU, RPC, and others has greatly decreased due to inflation. Raising the Blanket Tax just a small amount would also allow us to better support students with the Initiative Fund and bring Blanket Tax status to Rice Pride, allowing them to better accomplish their mission. 

Finally, I want to advocate for more than financial matters. I aim to support projects on campus that promote environmental sustainability and those that enhance mental health resources on campus. I see this position as an opportunity to elevate the overall quality of student life.
