Olivia Thom (HC Junior Rep)

Hello everyone! My name is Olivia Thom, and I am currently a sophomore at Duncan College, majoring in Social Policy Analysis and Business. This 2023-2024 school year I have been the Honor Council Secretary, and as such my role is to schedule all Honor Council cases. This role means accommodating for the busy lives of Honor Council members whilst still ensuring that an accused student's time is respected. My leadership in the Council this year has shown me just how integral our honor code system is to maintaining the integrity of their academic work and building trust between students and faculty. In the coming academic year, I will work to ensure that students' voices are heard just as much as professors'. The Council is a student-elected body and as such must work to build bridges between students and their professors, not divisions. I will always sacrifice my time for students because I see how stressful these situations can be and I want to ensure that all cases are examined justly and thoroughly. Being a member of the Honor Council is not just about holding fast to your interpretation, it also relies heavily on being able to listen to and consider the equally important views of fellow members, professors, and students. If you choose me as your representative, I will continue to protect the responsibility and integrity that embody our university and most importantly- listen to all voices on campus.
