Chelsea Asibbey (Secretary)

Hello, Rice community! I'm Chelsea Asibbey, a freshman at Baker majoring in political science and business on the pre-law track, and I am so excited to run for your Student Association Secretary for the 2024-2025 school year.

Currently, there is a huge disconnect between the Student Association and the student body, and I hope to bridge the gap as secretary. My commitment is to maximize the role, focusing on streamlined effective communication to keep you informed about Student Association actions, amendments, and things that directly impact you.

As a freshman, I understand the challenge of staying in the loop on-campus events. If elected, I'll prioritize transparency, keeping you aware of the progress, changes, and setbacks within the Student Association through constant social media updates. Additionally, SA provides students with the opportunity for advocacy, and I hope to make this opportunity known throughout our student body. I aim to create an open platform where our student voices are the driving force in our decisions.

In this position, I aspire to be a familiar face for all students, welcoming and vibrant, ready to address concerns. As an African-American student, I aim to highlight the needs of Underrepresented groups hoping to make the Student Association a true reflection of the diverse needs and desires of the Rice community.

I am honored to be running for this pivotal role. I look forward to serving you as your Student Association Secretary and leaving the Student Association better than I found it.
