Candidate Statement
Jack Bartlett (Honor Council Junior Rep)
Hello y’all! My name is Jack Bartlett and I am a sophomore at Jones college majoring in Economics. This academic year, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a sophomore class representative as well as being the Council’s External Vice Chair. In this role, I have served on and chaired numerous cases. Through these experiences, I’ve come to see that beyond the obvious purpose of enforcing academic integrity, the honor system also serves to make more complete graduates. The education a Rice student receives consists not just of lectures and labs, but also of values such as integrity and honor. Graduates of our school are highly regarded not solely for their brilliant minds, but for a level of character that far exceeds societal expectations. As an honor council representative, I will continue to ensure that this reputation of excellence and culture of integrity is maintained by thorough adjudication of the council’s cases. Furthermore, my priority will remain the students I represent. It is a great privilege to serve the class of 2028 on the honor council and as a representative, it will remain my primary goal to look after the interests of Rice’s junior population. Should I have the pleasure to serve as your representative, I will continue to invest as much time as is necessary to preserve Rice’s unique academic environment hallmarked by trust and honor.
