Labor Commission
Mission Statement:
The Labor Commission aims to raise awareness about the working conditions of Rice’s undergraduate employees and advocate for their needs. In step with these aims, the commission will work towards:
A higher minimum wage for undergraduate students
The centralization of rules and procedures for student employees
The publicization of student workers’ needs
The commission's previous work can be seen in this news piece, which details the unsatisfactory conditions experienced by Rice’s working students. For questions or comments, please reach out to us at ricelabor@proton.me.

Vice Chair
Matti Haacke
Hi everyone! My name is Matti Haacke, I'm a senior from Sid Rich majoring in Sociology with a minor in Astronomy. I have been involved in advocacy in a variety of positions on campus including Students for Justice in Palestine and launching CRices: A Critical Look into Mental Health and Time Away at Rice. I hope to bring these organizing skills to advocating for labor justice for students at Rice to make a more equitable work environment.
