Publics & Traditions Commission
Mission Statement:
The RSA Publics & Traditions Commission works to strengthen the traditions and shared experiences that make Rice, Rice. Our mission is to bring students and residential colleges together by supporting campus-wide publics, preserving and improving the traditions students love, and creating new ones along the way. We serve as a space for collaboration between colleges, helping student leaders share ideas, coordinate events, and tackle the logistical challenges that come with making big ideas happen. Above all, we want to build a more connected Rice community one memorable tradition, public, and event at a time.
Commission Board
Co-Chair
Max Menchaca
Hello! My name is Max Menchaca and I am one of the Co-Chairs of the RSA Publics & Traditions Commission. I’m also Brown College’s Social Vice President, so I spend a large amount of my time thinking about events, traditions, and how to make Rice a little more fun. As Co-Chair, I work with students from across the colleges to support campus-wide publics, strengthen the traditions that make Rice unique, and find new ways to bring people together and make campus life more memorable!

Co-Chair
Mia Girela
My name is Mia Girela, a senior at Baker College and one of the Co-chairs for the Publics and Traditions Commission. I spend a lot of time thinking about how to make Rice feel more connected and more fun. As Co-Chair, I work alongside students from every college to support campus-wide publics, keep our traditions strong, and help bring new ideas to life. I love finding ways to get people out of their dorms and into something memorable together!
