Candidate Statement
Chris White (Honor Council Junior Rep)
My name is Christopher White, and I am running for Junior Class Representative on the Honor Council. I am currently a Sophomore Representative on the Honor Council and UCourt Representative and Civic Engagement Representative for Hanszen College.
I am running for Honor Council because I genuinely care about fairness, trust, and the kind of academic community we’re building at Rice. The Honor Code works best when students believe in it—not just as a set of rules, but as a shared commitment to honesty and respect. As a sophomore, I’ve seen both the pressure and the expectations that come with being a Rice student, and I understand how important it is to have representatives who actually listen and take those realities seriously.
If elected, I want to help make sure the Honor Council is respecting due process, treating everyone involved with empathy, and making sure students understand their rights and responsibilities under the Honor Code.
I’m running because I value integrity and want to serve my classmates in a thoughtful, fair, and consistent way. I’d be honored to represent the Junior class and help uphold the trust that we have in our institutions at Rice.
