I believe the Honor Code is integral to Rice University. It establishes a fundamental trust between university and student and allows accusations to be investigated and decided by fellow students rather than a single professor. It is worth upholding.

Moreover, every council member has an impact. To find a student in violation, six council members must unanimously agree following a Council-led investigation. Just one vote can sway a case.

As the current Internal Vice Chair and Sophomore Class Representative, I've committed myself to every case thoroughly, independently, and optimistically. As Junior Class Representative, my vote will continue to be based on evidence, precedent, and my own beliefs.
