James Cancelarich is a junior at Weiss studying English and History. He is the current news editor for the Rice Thresher. As Thresher Editor-in-chief, he will continue to support the free flow of information on campus. In his role he will practice transparency and accountability, hold those in power accountable, promote civic engagement, and practice and advocate for journalistic freedom and integrity. As Rice does not have a dedicated journalism program, he will work to provide a means for students to explore their interests in media, reporting, writing, and editing. In addition, he will work to create a fun and inclusive environment at the Thresher and welcome a wide range of contributors and editors. As an obsessive phone user, if he does not respond to your texts or emails in a timely manner, he is most likely hiking, camping, or backpacking in an area without cell reception.
