HEY RICE!!! I’m Mahtab (B. Dastur), and I’m running for External Vice President (EVP) because I want to make SA more transparent, dynamic, and impactful. 

This year, I served as a Duncan NSR, giving me firsthand insight into how the SA operates; worked as part of the Sexual Violence and Harassment Committee to implement self-care kits and host events at colleges and the SAFE office; and shadowed the SA VP, giving me additional experience and exposure to how Rice’s leadership operates within commissions and the executive board. I want to use that experience to improve how SA communicates with both students and the administration. I’ll push for stronger, more consistent messaging by ensuring commissions have active, updated Instagram pages so students actually see what’s happening. I also propose a Media Position and an expanded communications team to better engage the student body.

Beyond communication, I’ll continue to chair the External Affairs Committee, forging stronger relationships with commissions, committees, and off-campus organizations to bring more opportunities directly to students. I’m also passionate about launching the VP Passion Fund, which will allow students to apply for funding to execute personal projects outside the club structure—because great ideas shouldn’t be limited by bureaucracy.

My goal? Make SA more engaging, proactive, and student-focused.. Whether it’s through commissions, passion projects, or collaborations, I want to make it easier for students to get involved and make things happen. Let’s build a Rice that works for you!
