HI RICE!!! I’m Mahtab (B. Dastur), and I’m running for Internal Vice President because I care deeply about this community and the students who make it what it is. Over the past two years, as an NSR, Community Facilitator, and now your SA External Vice President, I’ve learned that real change happens when we lead with empathy and persistence. That’s exactly what I want to bring into the IVP role. One of my proudest projects this year has been printing credits. After a long push with OIT, the Library, and admin, we launched the first-ever $5 student printing credit pilot. As IVP, I want to take the next step: make it permanent, expand it sustainably, and ensure printing remains accessible for every student who relies on it. Food security is another core priority because it impacts all of us. I want to expand college food pantries, increase Rice Pantry hours, build a swipe donation system that actually meets student demand, and push for more flexible and affordable off-campus meal plan options. I’m also committed to strengthening the traditions that define Rice. From Beer Bike safety during Gateway construction to Chao’s emerging culture to making Publics more workable for a growing student body, students should be leading that process. I’m collaborative, honest, and people-driven. I’m running for IVP because I believe in building a Rice where every student feels supported and heard.
