About

Hi!! My name is Emma Young, and I am one of two undergraduate students on the Rice University Athletics Committee (RUAC). I'm a junior at Duncan, majoring in Political Science and Global Affairs, with minors in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and French. I am also a member of the Women's Cross Country and Track & Field teams, which fuels my passion for elevating student-athletes' voices at Rice. In my role, I attend committee meetings composed almost entirely of faculty and administrators and provide a representative undergraduate perspective. My goal is to shape the Undergraduate Representative position into a more influential voice within the RUAC, rather than a checked-off box for student representation on the committee. This means using my seat on the committee as a direct channel to create change within Rice's athletic department — taking the initiative to address Rice athletes' concerns and interests.
